About Us

WESOŁY LUD (which means HAPPY PEOPLE in Polish) is the Representative Dance Ensemble of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America (PRCUA), the oldest and one of the largest Polish American fraternal organizations. The Ensemble was established in January of 1977 by Micheline Jaminski supported by Martha Kwiatt, then PRCUA National Director of District 8, for the purpose of perpetuating Polish folk culture through dance and song.

The Ensemble received a special award for Youth and Expression from the Ministry of Culture in Poland and in 2007, was awarded the FIRST GOLD MEDAL given to an Ensemble in the USA for perpetuating Polish culture from “Stowarzyszenie Wspólnota Polska" (an organization in Poland dedicated to strengthening the ties between the Poles living abroad and the Motherland promoting Polish culture and the Polish language).
